Like Brent Justice said, "What is the point of CrossFire if you can’t run it at a high resolution with a high refresh rate?"
I mean, why would you spend $1000 for Crossfire with that kind of limitation. It doesn't make sense to do that.

because you don't need to spend 1000$ for it

at least 700 though... a mastercard 850xt ... another 850xt... that's 700 alone for the video cards. Then you'd need a better processor, and possibly a new motherboard. It could easily get to a grand.

well for us XPS GEn 4 owners u would need the master card and a new mobo..why buy a new proc? yes at the moment they only sent out AMD reference boards but i highly doubt they're not goin to produce intel ones so thats around 500 for everything youd need if you already have an X800XT or X850 you have the second card.. but crossfire on those cards doesn't really seem to be worth it.. get it with dual X1800's and u'll be in business DUal link DVI so no resolution limiting and it'll put up a fight against a 7800GTX sli maybe

the x1800 are the first defectve batches of Ati's R5xx chips. Plus it sucks up at full load ... 270W EACH... so 540W for two... to be safe. A typical AMD64 based system requires 200W (at least) This it'll reach 740W at least if you don't included extra devices. You'll need like a 800W or 1Gigawatt powersupply.. ridiculous. Ok, I admit that power draw and PSU wattage aren't the same.. but still.
How are we XPS Gen 4 owners going to use Sli or crossfire? Don't we need an extra AGP or PCI-Express slot? Crossfire Iteration 1 got owned. It sucks. It shouldn't be called Crossfire... maybe Backfire.
Nvidia - 1 Ati - 0

NV has a long list of proven nforce chipsets. SLi is highly dependant on the CPU. If its not a D 8xx overclocked then you bottleneck performance. You XPS Gen4 users have excellent systems to salvage. Buy a new mobo/psu/case/xp-90c. Ebay or Sell the excess on this forum. In the end, youll be much happier with ATX.

theres no telling about the crossfire X1800 XT solution when you look at all of the data for any dual card solution it never equals double do to the simple fact that having 2 cards improves the effeciency of your computer and the cards work together it doesn't give you the performance gain of 2 cards so why would it consume as much power as 2... and where as yea it's obvious crossfire wouldn't top nvidia now. down the line theres a good chance it could own the X1800XTs beat out 2 7800GTs at times it's just hoping they can solve the resolution hinderance because i'm sure newer LCDs will support higher refresh rates than 60hz.. and personally though the 7800GTX owns right now..thats right now it seems silly to think that'll stay on top. cards very just like processors will. things change its the way of technology. I used to be a hardcore Nvidia fan. till my friend got a 9800XTgranted the ATI drivers aren't always the greatest but thats why theres NGO's and a buncha other drivers . the big thing that has me saying the praising ati is most applications are D3d not OpenGL. so .. and granted we can't use anyof it really.. better to make u're own.. my mom had control of the credit card to i had to go this way
