I purchased a 6800GT from newegg on Monday and received it last night. I opened my old case pulled off the power cord from my 9800 XT, than took it out. I put in the new 6800 GT (AGP) into the motherboard and just plugged the power cord back into the new card. Thought that was it than tried to start my system no luck. I tried everything, pulling the battery out of the computer, resetting the RAM all with no luck. Called newegg they gave me a RMA and off it went this morning =(. Now I have to wait till sometime next week to get my new 6800GT but have to give newegg thumbs up on there great customer service. Hopefully the next card they send will not be DOA when I receive it. Anyone ever have this happen to them?? I thought it was my computer but I put the 9800 XT back in and it worked perfectly. The power should be enough for the 6800 GT since it is the only thing on that power cord from the battery, I mean it powers the old ati card should do the same with more than enough power for the new nvidia card. Any ideas or was it just a bad card. Some people are saying that the Dell XPS is to weak to run the card but my system says it has a 460 PSU.
I have a XPS gen 2 P4 3.4 2 gig ram 9800 XT

Given the shear volume of hardware that Newegg goes thru, its not surprising.

Well the new card is on the way so I will post what happens. I am kind of nervous because some people are telling me that my XPS Gen2 cant power the 6800GT. They are saying that the 460PSU that is from Dell in my rig isnt enough. I hope they are wrong, card should arrive by Friday.... Crosses Fingers!!!!!!

Yeah, you should totally be able to power that thing. My friend's 8400 has one in it, i believe.
what battery man? also, did the thing even display bios? How about this, did you hear your computer booting regardless of having a picture on the screen? All of these should have helped you decide if it was actually the card or not.
My friend had a fan controller installed and when he booted his computer, nothing worked. It didnt even post. Only after removing every component and spending 2 hours did he realize he bumped a ram module out of socket while installing the controller. It was scary but it all worked out okay. You just gotta be thorough in your troubleshooting.

Ok the card is coming so Monday it should be here (dam weekends!) I did re-seat the ram, and made sure everything was plug in. I am thinking it was just a bad card cause the more I read the more I am seeing that the XPS should have more than enough power for that card. I will let you guys know how the update goes after the weekend.

Well new card is in and it is up and running. I am glad my XPS can handle it but I am going to put the new 6800GT through its paces tonight when I fire up Doom and CS:S with all the eye candy turned all the way up.
