I 've been having problems with my 7800gs ,as have thousands of other people. EVGA swears its my power supply, mind you i'm on my 3rd rma and this card is the worst of them all..different problem than first 2 cards, this card rarely spins up to 3d mode. Using ati tool to monitor fps this card never gets above 50 fps where as the other cards would average 460fps. They want me to try it in another system but I dont know of anyone that has one to support this card. I have minimized my load on my 12v rail from 5 fans to just my zalman and 1 case fan and the 12v rail fluctuates between 11.89 and 11.95v no matter how many fans are running. In this screen cap, 2 fans are running, the only discrepancy I see is my +3.3. My question is could this be an issue. EVGA will RMA this card no questions asked and I dont have to send the old one back till I get the new one. However I am tired of RMA'ING. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, also is anyone else running this card.

Rarely above 50fps sounds like the vblank is set to on always. The 12vdc range is about what I get here on the gen1. That 12vdc is at the adm1027 on the mother board and the drop is likely due to current drawn over those long power supply harnesses. The adm1027 uses a mathmatical formula to calc the value and can only show steps as to what a single bit is equated as. There's a post I made here of the power harness plugs and what rail they are on. You can try unloading the one going to the vid card (disconnecting unneeded hdds, dvdd, and fans). I use a digital voltmeter here at times to check the actual values at various points. Hmmmsss... I been thinking of trying added cooling to the powersuppy to see if it improves.....If I do I'll get back to you on the results. The exhaust on those power supply fans does tend to run a bit warmish.

I ran the atitraytool 3d render with and without a 3 fan bank (from a vid card cooler) positioned in the front intake of the power supply. The only difference was a drop in the output air temperature (98F vs 94F, ambient was 74F). As a note, there was an issue with the late version mbm5 and the xps in the chip detection for the xps. It wanted to specify it as an 67=ADM ADT7460/7463 and not an 45=Analog Devices ADM1027. I did a patch in looking at the issue but didn't see any real need for it. For gp you might try using an older version mbm5 if you fail to see: [Temperature] T1 Name=ADM1027 T1 Sensor=457 located in your mbm5.ini file (just open it in notepad) and/or run aida32 and look at Computer\Sensor as it id's fine here and gives good values. I likely have the patch and the older mbm5 files here if needed. It's likely that your 3.3vdc readout is just an erroneous value, I seriously doubt your puter would even run if it was really at only 2vdc. If you have access to a volt meter you can verify the actual voltage using the 6 pin unused connector in the older XPS systems. The pinout for it is in the xps online manual.

Checked all voltages with no hardware connected and they all checked fine, I cant find an older version of mbm so if you have a link post it up for me. I just reformatted so It will take me bit to get around to testing the vid card again, but I dont think it is my power supply. EVGA has had enough complaining about the card so they posted in their forums that R&D is know looking into the problem..you should see how many post there are about the 7800gs superclock..NUTZ Thanks for the help Crusier

I posted version 6 for you (may have to go to an earlier version yet)..... let me know when you have it dl/saved so I can delete it there. Other than that the mbm5 files can get really trashed and give you erroneous readings, which are usually corrected with a complete uninstall (with deletion of the folder and files left over) and a reinstall. As usual your likely best off with a power off/on restart cycle after each stage.
