I've read a lot of threads here regarding memory upgrades but I still have a question. Has anyone attempted to add CAS 2.5 DDR400 RAM to an XPS Gen1? If so, did the timings drop back to 3-3-3-8 or did they remain at 2.5-3-3-6? Also, did the speed show in the BIOS as 400MHz or did it drop to 333MHz.
The reason I ask this is because I read a review where the reviewer mentions successfully using CAS 2.5 RAM at it's default timings without an issue.
Thank you for any assistance,
Drivie

The cas 2.5 detects and runs at 400mhz if the spd info is the same on all the memory sticks. Mix them and you drop back to 333mhz.

Just wanted to report back that I ordered a matched pair of 1GB modules with CAS timings 2.5-3-3-6 and installed them into my Gen 1 successfully. BIOS reports memory speed of 400Mhz and CPU-Z reports PAT: Enabled and timings are reported correctly as well.
Thank you for your assistance Cruiser!
