hey all, i've got a Gen 2 Dell XPS with a slowly dying 460w power supply... i recently tried to install a 7800GS AGP... and was unable to power it effectively (BSOD) it requires a 350watt PSU i called Dell about replacing the PSU, but they told me gen 1-4 used the same PSU (460watt, 240watt max output) but the gen 5 used BOTH a 460watt PSU and a 650watt PSU... my question is, would it be possible to replace the PSU on my gen 2 (460watt) with a gen 5 PSU (650watt) and if so, would that give me a higher max voltage output (someone listed 500watt max in the gen 5 section) i really want to replace my PSU, but going to a 460watt / 240watt max output wouldn't really solve my upgrade problem (even though it would help overall system stability) thanks in advance side note: the 460watt PSU has a 20pin mobo connection, does the 650watt have a 20 or 24 pin, also, is there any reason why i shouldn't be able to use the 650watt PSU with my mobo?
