Ok, so my new 3.2Ghz Northwood was defective and I'm back to the good old 2.8 CPU. Pondering around the Dell forums and even contacting a tech rep proved that they don't know anything. The chipset supports up to 3.4Ghz CPU but the bios will only accept 3.2 as far as I can figure. I use to have an old Dell XPS-R with Pentium II and using powerleap upgraded it to a 1.4Ghz Pentium III before selling it at a tidy profit. The bios showed it a 500Mhz but it performed well above that level. I am wondering if the same could be said if I install a 3.4 CPU? I'm sure a few here have tried but there is no specific answer. What can I do?
