Hey guys. Just wanted to take a poll of people who have installed the Zalman CNPS7000A Cu or CNPS7000A Cu/Al heatsink on their XPS. How have your XPSs been holding up? What kind of temps have you been getting? Which fan speed are you running at? As of now with an ambient of 70 degrees F, I've been getting processor temps of 34 C at idle and 48 C at full load at the highest fan speed. Sorry for the conflict of units. Also post pictures of your XPS. Use this site to post your pictures www.imageshack.us/index.phpHere are pictures of my XPS. Enjoy.

I believe you are the only person, besides Deezmygal. Ive given some thoughts into a heatsink change, but Dells heatpipes work so well....when you slap a high CFM fan on it anyhow.
Hows the temps over the summer?

Hey T.Row,
Not too shabby. It doesn't get that warm in Berkeley during the summer, ambient usually in the low to mid 70s. So my idle would hover around 32-34 C and 45-48 C at full load. When it does get hot, upper 80s to low 90s, idle is about 45 C. I usually don't test the temps when it's hot.
I'm hope there are plenty of Zalman modders out there. The Gen 1 XPS came with those non-heatpiped heatsinks and I'm sure there are a lot of Gen 1 owners who performed this mod. The heatpiped heatsink of the Gen 3 XPS looks crazy. I wonder how good that thing performs along with those vents they placed on the sides and top of the case.

The puzzling thing about the Gen 3, are real-time, user confirmed operating temperatures. How hot are they actually running under load in above average ambients. Mines chillin Its amazing what 160CFM In/100CFM Out ratio will do. T.RoW
