I have a new XPS Gen4, and I noticed that the case itself would sometimes vibrate, emitting a very low sound, and that the wooden table the computer sat on would always vibrate, again, emitting a sound. I tried putting foam rubber under the computer "legs" and it helped a little. Then I purchased from Quiet PC USA their QuietFeet Standard size (4 pack). These are a special kind of rubber-like hemisphere they easily attach to the bottom of the computer. And now all the above vibrations are simply gone. The computer seems significantly quieter, the only sound being the faint whir of all the fans.
