Ok I have a question. I have a dell xps gen 2 with two extra 80mm fans....a 6800gt and two 120gb sata hd's in raid 0. The question I have is will an ATX mobo fit inside the case? I mean I know I would have to drill mounting holes, but other than that would it fit the case? And also, if I did that and then bought a standard ATX powersupply and used that to power the mobo and vid card and then leave the dell powersupply to power everything else. Could that work? But my main question is really whether an ATX mobo would fit in this case other than having to drill new mounting holes....

OK. But the power supply switch can easily be done. I dont even have to mod the stock XPS switch. I can simply drill a hole and install a new one. The plan though is to keep everything but my 6800gt and mobo on the stock dell powersupply so that switch and powersupply will still be need. The other thing is that the dell mobo has the tray built onto it, so cant i simply just mount the new mobo straight to the XPS's inner steal chassis? The new powersupply will of course have to be mounted outside the chassis or I might do some cutting to make extra room. All in all, I don not think this is going to prove as difficult as many people think.

The chassis used in the XPS has roots in workstations. Some of those make use of internal power supplys. You can take a look around the inside of your XPS and see the stampings. The only way you will find out about the issues and how to deal with them is either by doing one yourself or good communications with someone who has. As you say "nothing is impossible". Uhhh...iffin you go forth with it be sure to post pics.....lots of pics....hehe

ummm I think we have really strayed from my main question. Will an atx mobo fit into the xps case. Simply, will the pci slot openings line up and will all the lan and usb connectors line up on the back panel?
