wow do i feel like crap. while messing around with CPUCool, i was setting it to 3.6 and set it, the blue screen of death came on. it said a hardware failure has occured. so when i go to boot it up, nothing apeared on screen. so i looked at the diognostics lights they were YGGY. which told me that one of the memory modules got fried. so i took the first stick out and put the other one in, now i have 512. but im glad my memory is the only thing that got fried and nothing else. The lesson here boys and girls is: Live and Learn. Also, is this type of memory good for OCing? www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-436&depa=1Would this type of ram prevented the Ram from getting fried?

Take a Picture of your Case and Fan setup. If it doesnt look like Cruiser's or Mine, then you should get bigger fans for overclocking. Consider that these are radical modifications to the fan setup. I have: 160CFM IN 100CFM OUT Thus my temperatures never changed even when I overclocked. The CPU you have and the 3.6 with your loose CL3 RAM timings, Im surprised you didnt' fry them both, yet alone the CPU. You got lucky it was just a stick. $70 stick of CL3. As testing for stability is not just booting to desktop....its a marathon of Load conditions with measurement and documentation. Each system will have its limits, each user's fan setup will be different. Study the designs that work, then emulate. Sorry about the stick, you lucky bastard! T.RoW EDIT:And you wont have DDR until you get another matching 512 stick.

OK.......attempt to recover..power the system off and always always disconnect the ac power cord when your changing/reseating components.....remove the good stick and replace it with the supposedly bad one......reseat it a few times for general principal........try powering up the system (after reconnecting the ac power cord hehe...).....if it powers up and boots you can try the power off+ac pulled and insert the second stick in combination with the first....if it powers up and boots...power down and run the dell systems diagnostics...with the memory test given special attention.....and remember...when you get those bsd or the system flat out hangs, power the system off by pulling the ac power....glhf and do be cautious.... If both sticks work in one slot but the error continues with both inserted (in an A B and B A).......hmm just report it here....nada good it would be...
