hi,
I have a dell dimension 8300, which as you know uses the same motherboard used in the XPS with i875P. I downloaded MBM and tried to run it with the following motherboard readouts:
D875PBZ Dimension XPS 400SC
All giving me a read out of 0 degrees celcius.
Could someone please explain to me, why I can't monitor temperatures on my motherboard even though it has the ADM1027 sensors.
I am using the A03 bios
Thanks in advance,
Mul

cheers mate, I will have a look on dell talk.
MBM actually detects the ADM1027 sensors but I don't get a reading. I know the motherboards are the same as people have put XPS bioses on 8300's, and 8300 bioses on 400SC's, vice versa. I have also used the XPS overclocking guide to overclock my 8300 (however at 225FSB I did get a full lockup and corrupted windows files).
I'll open up my case to see if I can actually see the ADM1027 chip.

yep, I found some pictures showing the ADM1027 sensor. Going to open up my case soon. Just waiting for someone to stop using the PC.

right. Had a look and it seems your speculations were correct. The ADM1027 sensor was not present. I guess it's just the fact that the two boards look strikingly similar and use the same PLL hehe... Mul

Welcome to the Forums!
What kind of PC do you have? XPS Gen?, 8300?
The best solution will greatly depend on which model you own, for some models dont support certain 3rd party monitoring software.

The adm1027 on a gen1 with the three sensors fully populated. The blue outlined area was marked for another party who's later gen was missing a sensor reading. It turned out that the sensor and other required components weren't in his machine. Dell changes things all the time.

My system is an XPS 2.8GHz w/800MHz FSbus & HT (Gen 1) bought in August 2003. I'll open the case and look for the ADM1027 chip.
If I find one, what program can best monitor my temp readings?
Also, I recently did a major cleaning inside the case. I removed, cleaned and replaced the heatsink. Must I replace the thermal compound between the heatsink and the processor which appeared to be all dried up?.
Thanks

All the sensors should be there. MBM5 is the classic monitor. There are instructions on the board on the configuring it. Highly recommended on the heatsink compound to the point of near absolutely.
