I post something similar in another big compute forum but apparently those people all stay away from you when the topic is about putting mod on a dell. So maybe I can get some insight from people here. Ok, here's the issue for my Gen5, I am not sure if Gen1-4 have similar structure or not. The two fans sitting on the side of heatsink are Nidec 92mm TA350DC that has a max air flow of 150CFM at 53dB (6k rpm), however dell did a good job at managing the fan speed here because when the machine is at idle, you feel very little air movement when you put your hand there. But I was just wondering if you replace those fans with a third party one that suppose to offer less noise at a similar air flow rate, how would that affect the cooling? I have seen some of you here replaced those fans, so I figure it's something that can't hurt by doing it. Could you share your experience?

have replaced the fans .. all it does is give you a really annoying fan error that you have to press F1 to get around unless u find a way to jumper it. i have the thermaltake manual control fans. and one of the nidecs mounted on the HS itself i never here the nidec spin up .. and i used to all the time before i replaced the fans

in theory yes but u'll probably have to mess with the bracket a little to get it to fit on perfectly

ok ... now after seeing that.. im not gonna get a little watercooler.. i'll get that.. then whenever i make my own i can watercool. the temps on that thing and the blue fan match my other fans.. it's what i was looking for exactly. I can't wait for this cooler to come out .. i'll be one of the first to have it in.. long as the positive reviews keep coming.. if i don't have to worry about cooling leakage or refilling the coolant thats much better. you really cant go wrong. and the 530G is just slighty over the intel specified weight and MUCH less compaired to the other coolers. granted the balance point is higher from the mobo but.. stills gotta be better

Then of course you have to make sure you have all the space it needs.

given this is not as wide as zalmans other coolers it shouldn't be a problem. granted it still depends on how your case is set up.. for us XPS users with the seperate PSU bay we shouldn't have a problem long as we can mount it
