Hello, I recently found this site and have picked up a lot of great information from your posts. As my subject line implies I am looking for the best CPU water-cooling block for my computer (XPS GEN 4, Intel P4 640J, ATI X850XT PE, 2GB DDR2 533 Ram) My Idle temps are Case 41C, GPU 42C. The GEN 4 does not show CPU temps. At load the GPU has gone up to 71C. The case temp showed 100C but I think that must have been an error (I sure hope it was). Now when my son or I play games we turn the fan on the video card to 100% and live with the noise but now my wife is commenting on how noisy the computer is. Since that time I have only added a Nexus 80mm Real Silent Case fan to the front bracket that sits close to the front of the case on the bottom, and round cables. So you can see I have just began to mod my case. It seems that DELL has their own MB and there is no off the shelf block that just bolts on. I may be wrong on this point and I hope so. I plan on using a Maze 4 GPU block and NB block as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have you gotten the silencer for the X850XT? i did and my temps dropped i think 55 or so is the highest i hit on load. and yes u'll have to fashion some sort of weird way to mount the waterblock.. damn holes arent standard. they're almost a 478 but now quite

unknowngod430, Thanks for the fast reply. I was thinking about the ATI Silencer 5 but I would like to eliminate as many fans as possible. I though if I'm cooling the CPU with water why not the GPU and NB. Do you know if the Gen4 motherboard has the same hole locations on its CPU mounting brackets as the Gen 3?

i'm assuming it has the same mounting brackets but i'm not exactly sure... water cooling an xps is a pain in the ass, and eliminating as many fans as possible also runs into the problem of HD's and ram chips heating up just as an FYI... good luck either way.. i thought about WCing my gen 4... then the mobo bit the dust a day after the warrenty ran out

unknowngod430, What MB did you get to replace your DELL MB? That idea also has me thinking about making that change as my warranty has also run out.
