Hi Not sure if many people are on this board anymore - not many posts lately ! Anyway, I recently installed an EE 955 chip in my XPS600, and I am worried about cooling. I used to have an 820 in it, and when I put in the 955 (from ebay) it came with a stock Intel fan instead of a heatsink, and of course this fan won't mount on the mobo. So, I just used the heatsink that came with the older chip. Is this heatsink fine, or do I need to order a special one from DELL? I OC'd the processor to 4Ghz, and I could smell that neat sweet odor of Arctic Silver cooking. Not sure if that's normal or not Problem is, I have no way of knowing how hot the chip is getting without some sort of add-on thermometer. So, I am wondering if anyone has any suggestion on actual products (links, part numbers, etc) of what I can use to monitor processor temps on the XPS 600. That way at least I know what's really going on. I just don't trust the DELL temp sensitive fans to react quickly or effectively enough to keep the system cool. To provide more cooling in general, i was thinking of hanging another fan on the heatsink like I saw in one of the mod pictures I found on this board (but can't seem to find it again). It looked like the person used the raised pipes from the heatsink to hang the fan off of - and pushed air through the heatsink and out the back fans. Neat idea - not entirely sure how much this particular mod itself would cool. Any other ideas ?
