Seems the Audigy sound card has an issue maintaining a specific background music volume level when saving or loading games. For instance... Playing Call of Duty and I get to a point where I want to save the game, I hit the "Esc" key which in turn brings up the main menu and starts up some background music at a normal volume level. Once I select "save game" and then click "OK" the background music jumps way up! The actual volume slider/control for in game music settings has not changed. The game's sound effects are not affected, just in-game and menu music. The fix is to immediately load the "save game" I just created and then the music goes back to where it was originally set. I thought it was just Call of Duty that exhibited this problem, but it also happens in Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. Any ideas?

I dont know if this is a hardware problem or something related to how a specific program accounts for sound. The same thing happens to me when I use Avid Express. While I have the program in the foreground, the music from WinAmp is a LOT lower, but when I click on winamp, it boosts like 200%. It really sucks when your in Avid and you turn up the music and forget what will happen when you click out of the program. Still, Avid utilizes a mixer and I think it just pulls down the volume for use in its program, I find it hard to believe that its the sound card failing. Still, I don't have CoD installed so I can't see if the same thing happens to me in that particular game.
