I currently have Raid 0 on 2 drives. Is it possible to add a 3rd drive to the mix? And if so, can the system rebuild the stripe without destroying the data?

As far as I know, you cannot do this. But what you can do (with the help of a dedicated raid card) is run raid 5. Which, I believe stripes 2 and runs a third so that if either of the striped drives fail, they can be recovered from it. *shrug* just a suggestion

Raid 0 holds up to 32 drives.... once an array has been created... you cannot just add a drive to it. You would have to destroy the whole (2 drive) array and recreate it for 3 drives.
