Welcome to the Forums!
Ive actually had that same problem using the Overdrive option last week sometime. Most likely heat related because my Ambients were 75F plus. But, it hasn't happened since using ATi Tool to Overclock the V.card, instead of using OverDrive. You could also try the New ATi 5.1 Drivers.
ATi Silencer 4 and ArticSilver5 is probably the best cooling solution for the money. Guaranteed to prolong the life of your card, plus its a easy Install. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Benchmark Tweaks **(CTRL+ALT+DEL)Shut down Non-Essential Processes running in the background. Turn Off Virus Protection, and 3rd Party software. I even Disable the Network connection at times.
**Tweak your Startups via MSCONFIG.
**Setting ATi Control Panel to "Optimal Performance" (Slider to Far Left) will Improve your Score.
**Download Latest 5.1 Drivers From ATi
**And if your really brave, Check out Black Viper's WinXP SP2 Service Pack Tweaks. The "Safe" Section is what I used, but anything PnP(Plug n Play), Network Related, or "Not Sure" services I left Default.
Welcome Aboard!

As a reference WELSHY, my X850XTPE EASILY hits 96 degrees when gaming!! Scarey!!
Also, try ATiTool 0.23 for all you overclocking (and underclocking) needs

It hits 96 degrees C? If so, that is WAY TOO HOT! You might want to look into getting an ATI Silencer or don't overclock it so much.

THAT'S STOCK!!
The X850 XTPE comes with a slot exhaust fan attached as well (taking up a second slot) - THAT'S why it's scarey!!!!!!!
