This morning I was on the Intel site and tried to download the Intel active monitor utility program and everything went to a black screen when it installed. I shut it down with the on/off button when I got no response with ctrl/alt/del. Turned it back on with no booting screen - nothing but the sound of the fans spinning - HELP!

thanks for the fast comeback, Well, no beeps, dead screen and just the sound of the fans and the blue light behind the shield. I'm still under warranty since I just got my G3 a month ago. I'll try Dell customer support and get back to you guys. I hope I didn't fry the bios - can't understand a temp & fan monitoring program off the Intel site would fry my bios, but....

Well, I'm back and after unplugging everything and drinking a bottle of Jack Daniels, I crossed my fingers, eyes & anything else lying around - plugged back in, and PRESTO! - back to normal - god, i gave myself a heart attack over that one. I'm taking devnull's advice and just sticking a few extra quiet fans with a controller in the xpc. MY advice is to NOT download any fan, temp programs to the Dell without lots of research first!

You should NOT Install ANY INTEL System Downloads, they will NOT work with Dell XPS Motherboards. Dell Boards are not compatible with Aftermarket Utilities from Intel due to the proprietary nature of the embedded Dell BIOS. You should not have tried this without posting any concerns first. I apologize if my tone sounds janky, thats not my intention, plus im not like that. I just wish I could have consulted with you first man....I kind of feel responsible:-[. But im off work, and drinkin too, I had to work today! Sorry to hear that man. Hope all is better. T.RoW
