I have already done some Modding to my XPS to improve cooling. So far I have added a 120mm intake to the front grill, reversed the one rear fan so that both exhaust, and added a fan to the silent tower CPU cooler. Pics below: I am now concerned that I am not getting enough exhaust due to the mobo sensing lower temps. what I would like to do is snip the fan speed wire that leads to one of the rear fans. I would just replace the fans but I don't want to deal with the "Fan Error" at boot. does any one know if this is possible and if so which wire is it ? Cooler temps are due to better airflow...not to worry. Are you experiencing higher rpms on the rear fans? The rear fans should be either thermally controlled by components in the fans or pulse modulated by fan controller chip.
