hey guys, nice to finally find a place where i may be able to get some answers.
Im in a dilemma I have had a XPS Gen 1 since Dec. 2004, by the following year the warranty was up and the computer was extremely agonizingly slow, games and multi tasking were almost impossible the I wouldnt be doing anything demanding and it seemed as if my computer was being overworked, the performance/cpu usage was very high during all this.
After going back and forth with dell I paid them $50 for over the phone help...they made me take out and reinstall the memory sticks, reinstall windows etc, finally they told me it must be mother board related. at this point I was pissed off and just said forget it not worth it and it has sat in my closet for the past 4.5 years.
I called Dell today and they said they cannot give me an extended warranty because the computer is at the end of its service life....either way im not a fan of Dell. my question is should I try and push to get an extended warranty? buy a motherboard off the internet as some parts vendors have some in stock, or should I take my xps out with me on my next shooting trip?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
PS. it has 3.4 P4, 80 Gb HD, 1 GB ddr ram and 128 ATI graphics card I forget the exact detail ill have to boot her up and read up on it.
