Bought 8920 from Costco 4/23/2017 w 24Gb memory, 256 SSD (Boot C), 1Tb HDD D user drive for data and added a 1Tb HDD E for images and editing. Back up to Carbonite.
About a week ago the system crashed and rebooted to the normal startup login page. Since then the restarts have become increasingly frequent and reboot to fault diagnosis page. Multiple shut down and restarts today eventually brought up Dell resource page indicating a Windows error corrupt or missing file but I can't remember what the fault said. I followed the program and let Dell do its thing. The message said it could not fix the issue.
Next reboot I opted to go into the Windows 10 system recovery and opted to reinstall windows using the restore (I think that is what it was called or at least it was not a wipe everything option). Again the system went through the process and said Windows could not be restored!!
The next reboot came up with the message that "D:\users\myname\Desktop is unavailable". The message said that the drive had been moved and although I could find files and how much was used in the other drives, nothing for D.
I went to Carbonite and opted for a full restore but before the program could run, the machine crashed. I joined this forum hoping for a clue as to how best to proceed. The boot allowed me to access Explorer, set up the forum registration and so far write this post with no crash. I have left the machine on for over 30 minutes but now I am nervous so will post before I have to start over.
I have a few days left under warrantee to deal with Dell and would like to have some pointers about what I should be telling them and asking for them to do. I know I can just take the machine back to Costco and as honorable as they are they will take it and can fight it out with Dell but I would appreciate an expert's advice.
I thought at first the issue was with the SSD but now with nothing on the D drive, I am not so sure.
