Alrite guys a mate of mine needs some help he's got a xps 720 and wants new fans on the heatsink and front cover and a rear exhaust fan now he went and bought some without looking first and realised that the dell mboard needs 5 pin fan connections and the fans he has bought are 3 and 4 pin connections can they still be used with the 3pin if you put jumpers on the other pins im also guessing that you would have to break the block and put the + - on the right pins, or can any1 point him to a site that sell good fans that will fit straight away

No need for any jumpers - Yes, those fans can be used Cut the wires and use original connector from stock fans, splice new fan wires with corresponding wire/pin on original connector, and leave the PWM line or wire disconnected. If I recall correctly the PWM wire is white on Dell OE fans. It's insanely simple and easier to do than most people think... Peace!
