Hi, guys. I am hoping someone can help me with this. I have what I believe is a Gen 1 (but not sure) XPS M1210 I purchased new from dell in late 2006. It has the TSST TS-L632D Slim DVD combo drive. Yesterday, I completed a burning project and upon ejecting the DVD, I was too ham-handed and pulled the disk tray off its tracks. I removed the drive assembly and then removed the metal cover to put the tray back on the tracks. I am not aware that I damaged anything, but not the unit will not work, and is not recognized when I click on My Computer.
I fear I may need a new drive unit. Are there any suggestions? Should I look for one of these same drives, or is ther a better replacement? I have Windows XP Home, a Core Duo Processor, and an Nvida Ge-Force card. Thanks for your help.
